About
About Spiritual Minorities
Independent journalism on freedom of religion or belief, covering spiritual minorities, anti-cult movements, and government inquiries worldwide.
Mission
Spiritual Minorities is an independent publication covering freedom of religion or belief (FoRB). We report on and analyse discrimination against spiritual and religious minorities, the activities of anti-cult movements, and government inquiries into religious communities, across every region of the world.
Our journalism is advocacy-flavoured: we believe the freedom to hold, change, and express religious or spiritual belief is a fundamental human right, and we cover stories through that lens. We aim to be accurate, fair, and transparent about our sourcing.
Scope
We cover developments worldwide, with particular attention to:
- government and parliamentary inquiries into religious and spiritual communities;
- discrimination, vilification, and civil or criminal action against minority-faith members;
- the activities of anti-cult movements and their effects on individuals and families;
- legal frameworks for freedom of religion or belief at national and international level.
Independence & funding
Spiritual Minorities is editorially independent and accepts no sponsored or paid content. The publication is self-funded. We do not carry advertising or accept industry funding.
How we publish
We publish in two lanes:
- Original Stories: reporting and analysis produced by this publication, available in the Original Stories archive.
- Republished Stories: third-party articles republished with full attribution to the original author, title, source, and publication date, available in the Republished archive.
We also maintain a Library: collections of historical material preserved from sources that are no longer online, republished with the same attribution and takedown posture.
Republished content is always clearly attributed. We operate on an attribution + takedown-on-request basis: if you are a rights-holder and wish to have a republished article removed, please see our Copyright Notice & Takedown page.
Sourcing and corrections
Every factual claim this publication makes should trace to a primary source we hold or can point to. For how we source, cite, and correct our reporting, see our Methodology page.
